Behind the Lens:

Hey! My name’s Marika and I’m a landscape + lifestyle photographer based in Greater Vancouver, B.C Canada. 

There’s two vehicles of expression that make me come alive most: singing and photographing. If I’m not doing one, I’m likely doing the other. Disclaimer: when it comes to photography, and you’re ever outdoors with me, you’ll likely witness the shameless, child-like excitement I let out when I see something beautiful.
Here’s a few other quick facts: I'm a Christian. I love to write lists. I can’t go anywhere without a bottle of water. I'm married. I have a weakness for home décor. I love being outside (as long as I'm warm). I hate being cold. I drink coffee and tea everyday.
 With all that said, here’s now a bit of my heart behind why I do what I do.

As a kid I grew up around the language of capturing moments, which made it second nature for me to pick up a camera anytime I was experiencing something that captivated me. Whether it was in the setting of musical performances, people/gatherings, architecture or nature, I developed a sense of responsibility towards turning those moments into lasting memories.
Photography has taken many different forms since I was first introduced to it. In light of those advancements we now have tools that allow us to capture, edit, delete and recapture our moments instantly and constantly.
With all these tools at our fingertips, we’ve found ourselves in a place where we ironically run the risk of missing out on the very things we’re so concerned with documenting/remembering.
